uli-soccer-ball.jpgIt sure beats going to the vet.  I was to get spayed this weekend, like any responsibly healthy dog.  However, it seems there was a mix up at the vet and they were full.  Lucky for me I have this new soccer ball from my daddies friends named Quinno.  I’m really good at soccer.  I love playing with this ball.  Now, I wonder if I get good enough, if I could meet Posh Spice.

Today daddy and I went for a walk. My other dad has been sick, so I’ve been keeping him company in bed.  He sure sleeps alot.  Almost more than me.  But I like having him around. It’s really nice. The other daddy is working in the basement, fixing up his studio.  He’s also fixing a nice place for me to sleep down there while he is painting.  I bet it’ll be soft.  I wonder if I can bring a toy down there.  Oh, I think that rabbit is outback - i need to go bark at him.

Until the next time.  Bark bark…

my-2-dads.jpgWell, I thought it would be a good time to introduce you to my 2 dads.  I really love em.  They have really given me a special little home. They love to play ball with me and take me on walks. I think daddy is getting the leash ready for us to go on one soon.  He is…gotta go.  I’ll write more soon.

Auf Wiedersehen.

Snow Ball March 21, 2008

Today daddy got to stay home and we went outside in the fluffy “snow”. I snuck out my tennis ball and we played a bit. It was really fun. I don’t mind being outside and running in the snow because I know I have a warm house, fresh water and when daddy gets cold we both get to go in. But, today it was really fun. The backyard is really big. And fun. Daddy kept throwing the ball into the snow drifts and I played like I couldn’t find it so he’d have to come and get it. Then just about when he was to bend down I stuck my nose in the snow drift and grabbed it and ran towards the house. Daddy thought this was kind of funny. I’m a little tired though. I was able to run a lot and play fetch. Daddy’s a good ball thrower. Well, I see that my favorite chair is getting cold, so I better get back and warm it up.

Auf Wiedersehen.

romp in the mud March 21, 2008

Yesterday dad came home and we went out back. It was the first time I had seen the yard without much white fluffy stuff - I think I heard him call it “snow.” Well, it was a little muddy - just the way I like it. They have a lot of tall plants and things back in my yard. As I was finishing my business, I sniffed something sweet. It was a big furry rabbit. Now it was almost 100_0246.jpgtwice my size - good winter, I guess! - but I thought I could get him. I chased him in and out of the mud. And through the plantings. Didn’t get him, but I surely let him know that this is my yard. I hope he comes to visit again after the “snow” goes away again. Although it’s pretty. It’s also pretty cold on my paws. Plus, I’m a bit low to the ground, so unless they shovel me a path - I’m not going to get very far.

Oh, daddy’s out there with his shovel. How’s that for gratification. Now if I can just imagine me playing with the rabbit.

Gotta go, daddy’s coming in.

Auf Wiedersehen.

Uli…what kind of name is that? March 19, 2008

The daddies created a very special name for me, and I simply love it. It’s Uli, pronounced OOH-LEE. I’ve wondered where that came from. The best that I can tell, is that they really like this show called Project Runway. Last season one of the designers was named Uli Herzner. 100_0227.jpg

She was German - like me.

Has a great sense of style - like me!

And has a really down to earth, fun, lively personality - like me.

Here’s a picture of me with my Carrot. I left this one at grandma’s last weekend, but understand we are going there again on Sunday. I’ll have a toy to play with there too! Chao.

Or, should I say Auf Wiedersehen.

New toys! March 19, 2008

Since moving to South Minneapolis, I have been on a couple shopping trips. I’ve picked up a couple new toys. I love the plushy ones that squeak. I try and find the squeak device inside and make it sing. I can tell that my daddies appreciate my musical abilities. Each day, as I sit on the coach and what for Eric to come home at lunch I contemplate - which toy am I going to greet him with? I have a couple of choices, thanks to their friends. On Friday I received a soccer ball and a lady bug (although my daddie Jeff insists on calling it a bee, I don’t get it!) Here it is, what do you think?

This is the other toy - probably my favorite. I picked it out at the Chuck and Don’s on the adoption event. My dads surprised me with it when they brought me home. Thanks to them, I have a lot of100_0235.jpg things to keep me busy.

Which do you like best?

And, are there other toys I should convince my dads to get. I overheard them talking - and we get to go to Chuck & Don’s again this weekend! Yeah for me.

I wanted to create this blog to capture the life and times of a very happy dog. This is my way to let my friends in the rescue shelters - human and furry ones! - to know what a delicious little life a doggie like me could have. To give you a little background, my new humans adopted me just last week. I escaped a chicken cage out in the cold Ohio winters with no food and a frozen water bowl. Thanks for nothing there. But, I have nothing to complain about any more. This picture is the one where my two daddies came to the adoption event sponsored by Small Dog Rescue of Minneapolis. It was a great day. There were about 1o other dogs looking for more permanent homes. I was one of the lucky ones. These two daddies spent about an hour with me, I was able to get to know them and knew it would be a good choice to show my love and affection to them, because they had lots to offer this little dog from Ohio.

Now I live in South Minneapolis. I get to sleep in a warm bed, rule the a quaint little house with a spectacular yard. I can’t wait to write about my spring time romps soon.

This is my story. Of success. And rescue.

I hope that you will check in often, share your stories - human or dog - and continue to spread the joy of adoption and dog rescue. Cheers!
